Debbie Harry (active 1965-present)
Born in Miami in 1945, Deborah “Debbie” Harry spent time as a go-go dancer and a “Playboy bunny” before starting her music career in the Sixties with folk-rock group The Wind in the Willows. She is best known as the frontwoman of Blondie, a key part of the punk and new wave scene in New York in the late-Seventies and Eightees, with whom she wrote singles such as Heart of Glass and Atomic. Her trademark bleach blonde hair, meanwhile, was the inspiration for the band’s name.
